Birch wood

Birch wood is characterized by its fine-pored, usually smooth and silky glossy surface. There are different species of birch that can vary in density and color. Lighter birch species have a yellowish to reddish-white coloration, while heavier species tend to be light to dark brown. Birch is particularly easy to work with, both by hand and with machines; it is especially flexible and can be excellently processed into furniture.

Versatility

All birch woods are easy to work with. Due to its flexibility, the wood is particularly used in furniture construction, but it can also be laid as parquet or processed into toys. Above all, it impresses with its price. Birch wood can be easily screwed or nailed. The use of varnishes and stains allows for individual customization as well. Birch trunks can also serve as a decorative highlight in the hallway as a coat rack or in the living room as a bookshelf. Solid birch wood should be regularly waxed or oiled to maintain its shine and color.

You should avoid that

When using birch wood, it is advisable to avoid glue and polyester paints. It is rather unsuitable as construction wood or for outdoor use, as it is difficult to split and highly susceptible to weathering. Caution is required during storage, as it can quickly become stained or yellow. If the wood is damp, contact with iron should be avoided, as it can cause a slight gray discoloration.
